This piece was commissioned by the Venus High School Band; Venus, Texas. The island of Santorini in Greece is thought to be the location of the lost city of Atlantis. The island’s shape was created by a massive volcanic eruption thousands of years ago that some believe wiped out the ancient civilization. Lot’s of percussion and syncopated rhythms populate this adventure through time and history!

This piece was commissioned by Damon Archer and the Seven Lakes High School Band in celebration of their first graduating class. It is based around Plato’s theory which stated that everything in life was cyclical; that all things eventually pass on and are replaced. This seemed a very appropriate topic for this piece since it was a celebration of the “passing on” of the senior class, who will be replaced by the incoming class.
